“the little black dress is the true friend…she travels with you…is patient and constant…you go to her when you don’t know where else to go and she is ALWAYS reliable and timeless.” – Diane von Furstenberg
My love affair with the little black dress began with Audrey Hepburn as Holly Golightly. Out of all the dresses you will have in your wardrobe, this is one dress that is versatile and flatters everyone. I love how this simple elegant blank canvas allows the wearer to be creative and own it.
If you are minimalist and want to keep it simple, keep it streamlined. All black with no fuss is super chic.
If you are bold and want to add a touch of drama, go for a dress with lace or sequins and pile on the accessories.
How do I wear my LBD?
It honestly depends on where I am going and what event I am attending. I usually like my LBD to be simple and form fitting but for my recent trip to Paris (and thanks to an AMAZING sale at Kate Spade NY right before it), I went for something that has volume and the most adorable detail on the back. I wanted to keep the dress as the focus of my look so I paired it with simple and elegant jewelry (again by Kate Spade NY). To complete the look and wake it up, I added a pop of color with these bright red shoes. Don’t like red? Try metallic instead.
As for the hat, it’s something I just threw on to protect my face from the morning sun.
